Site Safety

Safety is a big issue nowadays and to carry out safe working practices is a must. Therefore all the equipment we use is regularly inspected to conform to the highest standard possible.

Here are some examples of working procedures we use at Broomfield tree services and why we carry out tree work operations in such a way.

Photo to left Acer platanoides takedown

A typical example of safe working practice. The use of a hydraulic platform in association with a high power winch makes the work safer for the operators and reduces the risk hazards on-site this tree had to be sectionally felled due to poor quality work carried out in the past.

Photo to right Salix fragilis pollard

Willows tend to be brittle trees and the one in the picture is in our opinion the worst species to work on crack willow (Salix fragilis). The tree grows very quickly making the structure prone to damage, the crown on this tree has only seven years of growth and with the restricted drop zone in a small rear garden it was taken down to a pollard by the use of a rope lowering system which gives the climber control over where the branches will land on the ground. At Broomfield Tree Services we always take the safer working practice rather than the slap it down as quick as we can approach.

The right Image

Presentation is not only shown in our PPE (personal protective equipment) but also in the way that we operate on site by using cones, signs and barrier tape to show we are operating in the area. Communication is a key issue, by using personal radios we can keep in contact even when loud machinery or equipment is in operation. This allows us to operate extremely efficiently on site and as safe as possible.
